Amsterdam, Netherlands - Budget Travel Guide

Image
I visited Amsterdam last Autumn, and I honestly cannot wait to go back. This trip was actually as birthday present; however, I have created this budget guide (for my own future reference to be honest) and wanted to share it with you! Getting There First of all, I would say that 3-4 nights is ideal for exploring Amsterdam and flying is the easiest way to get there from the UK, and it’s also not too expensive… You can get a return flight from Edinburgh in November 2023 for under £80 with EasyJet:  ( https://www.easyjet.com/en/ ) Accommodation Amsterdam is a tourist hotspot, so it’s certainly not short of accommodation options. Here is a highly rated central hostel:   - £168 for 4 nights https://www.booking.com/hotel/nl/the-flying-pig-downtown.en-gb.html?label=metagha-link-LUGB-hotel-482887_dev-desktop_los-1_bw-2_dow-Sunday_defdate-1_room-0_gstadt-2_rateid-gb_aud-0_gacid-6623578758_mcid-10_ppa-0_clrid-0_ad-1_gstkid-0_checkin-20231015_lp-1007336_r-955142004631399903&sid=066af2...

Tenerife, Spain - Budget Travel Guide

Image
We all think of Tenerife as a “Summer holiday”, but it’s also a great Winter Sun destination! Whether you’re looking for a relaxing week or a party holiday – it really has something for everyone… So, here is my guide to holidaying in Tenerife without breaking the bank! Getting There & Accommodation So, this one is a bit different… For most European trips, I would usually recommend trying to source flights and accommodation separately as it often works out cheaper. However, when it comes to “beach holidays” that are marketed towards holidaymakers, these are often less expensive when booked as a package. I would recommend the following package holiday sites in terms of affordability: - Lastminute.com - Loveholidays.com Costa Adeje is a fab place for anyone looking for a relaxing, but not too quiet, holiday – it’s a great spot for families and couples. Here is a great package deal for only £370 per person for a week: https://www.loveholidays.com/holidays/l/?masterId=55935...

Belfast, Northern Ireland - Budget Travel Guide

Image
After a fun-filled, affordable short break in Belfast – a city packed with history and culture, here is my guide to exploring Belfast on a budget! I’d say a long weekend/a couple of days is a perfect amount of time to explore the city. Getting There We’re just across the water from Ireland, so you’re hardly even on the flight before getting back off it again… This means that the flights there are nice and cheap – which we love on this blog! This Ryanair return flight is only £30 – and it’s flying out on a Saturday too…  ( https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en ) Accommodation Here are some budget-friendly accommodations - all of these options are for two (or three) people so the price can be split: - Premier Inn: £49 per night  https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/northern-ireland/antrim/belfast/belfast-city-cathedral-quarter.html?INNID=BELBAR&ARRdd=05&ARRmm=11&ARRyyyy=2023&NIGHTS=1&ROOMS=1&ADULT1=2&CHILD1=0&COT1=0&INTTYP1=DB&SID=4&ISH=tru...

10 Thrifty Travel Tips for Exploring Europe on a Budget

Image
1. Book in advance There are a few advantages to this one… Booking all accommodation, travel, and excursion tickets in advance allows you to take advantage of early bird discounts and secure better prices. It also gives you more time to research and compare options – leading on to my next tip! 2. Shop around  The first deal you find will most likely not be the cheapest, so use budget travel websites and compare prices to find the best offer. 3. Stay flexible  Having little flexibility with travel dates means that you will probably pay a bit more. So if possible, try to stay flexible. 📅 *Top Tip* You can use skyscanner.com to find the cheapest flight times within the month, and most budget travel sites allow you to filter hotels etc in the same way! 4. Opt for budget accommodations  Hotels can be expensive, so a few alternatives are hostels, guesthouses, airbnb, or even couchsurfing. 5. Off-peak season travel  The “school holidays” tend to be the most expe...
